Artist of the Month: Talk Talk

I thought I would start a new feature called, Artist of the Month. Each month will be a new artist or group.

The first choice is Talk Talk. I've been into them since 1984. Their main members were Mark Hollis (lead vocals), Paul Webb (bass) and Lee Harris (drums). Their biggest hit was "It's My Life." My favorite song from them is "Such a Shame." They sadly disbanded in 1991. After the breakup Lee Harris and Paul Webb started a band called, .O.Rang, who also featured Matt Johnson of The The and Beth Gibbons from Portishead. Paul Webb also worked with Beth Gibbons on her solo effort. Mark Hollis, from the last I heard, had retired from music.
If anyone else has anything to add, feel free.

Here is a video I found on YouTube. It's a live performance of their song, "Such a Shame."

Molly you are a genius!!! I was getting some ideas too. Like maybe one of you more inclined folks could find out about Playlist.com and we could have free tunes playing everytime we visit the blog.

I was also thinking maybe Ghosty could do some sort of once a month countdown, a much smaller one so that Ghosty doesn't spend his life adding up our entries. Maybe like a top 5. They could be weird crazy categories too, like songs that start with the letter x or bands with just two members or more then 8, songs released the year Ghosty was born, etc. I know I go crazy when Ghosty announces an album and it's WFDU rank when it was new "That song came off this album which was number 51 at this station in 1990." I would love him to play like one song each from the top five albums of each year.

Just ideas. Again, great job Molly!

I like that clip! I'll look and see if we have any old charts laying around. The CD's that made our countdown in the 80's and 90's all have a sticker on the front with the number they got to.

Thanks guys. That clip rocks. I do wish I could have caught Talk Talk in concert. They are a good live band.
Oh I forgot to mention in the beginning of the group there were four members. Mark, Paul Lee and Simon Bremner (who did keyboards). Simon left and there was three left. I believe Tim Friesse-Greene (producer) did some keyboarding. I know he was in the video of Such a Shame.
